Typhoon Lagoon is one of Walt Disney World's Water Parks and although my wife isn't a big fan of water parks, I think that they are great to have some time away from the main theme parks.
Now I like the the raft rides and the lazy rivers best, but some of you may prefer the body slides or even the wave pool, there is something for everyone, but as this is a family site lets look at the main play area for young children first and go from there:
Ketchakiddee Creek
This is a good area for kids and it has a few sections to it, there is a tube slide, a small sandy beach, a spray/fountain area and some other small slides. Children definitely seem to have fun here.
Castaway Creek
The parks lazy river that circles around the park, it goes through tunnels, under bridges, gentle waterfalls and mist screens. Float round on your own or with one of the provided tubes. I could float away for hours!
Hideaway Bay
This area of the park has three attractions:
Mount Mayday
The centre piece of the park has a number of slides, flumes and raft rides coming down it:
Typhoon Lagoon
This is the main middle of the park below Mount Mayday and has the following attractions:

Hideaway Bay
This area of the park has three attractions:
- Miss Adventure Falls ~ Typhoon Lagoon's newest attraction and in my opinion probably one of the best. This is a family raft ride and it is great fun.
- Crush 'n' Gusher ~ This attraction is made up of three water coaster slides "Banana Blaster", "Coconut Crusher" and "Pineapple Plunger". You go down in a two seat raft and all three are really fun.
- Sandy White Beach ~ This section includes a beach with lounge pools and a wading pool adjacent to Crush 'n' Gusher which the young children can swim in without being as crowded as the main surf pool.
Mount Mayday
The centre piece of the park has a number of slides, flumes and raft rides coming down it:
- Humunga Cowabunga ~ Three speed slides
- Storm slides ~ Three body slides
- Gang Plank Falls ~ A family raft ride, another favourite of mine, contending with Miss Adventure Falls for top spot!
- Mayday Falls ~ A tube slide flume which has a rapids feel
- Keelhaul Falls ~ A smoother tube slide flume
Typhoon Lagoon
This is the main middle of the park below Mount Mayday and has the following attractions:
- Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool ~ A wave pool which when on, can create 6 foot waves - even in the shallows the force of the waves can almost knock you over!
- Bay Slides ~ Beginner slides for younger children, my girls enjoy them.
- Blustery Bay & Whitecap Cove ~ Zero depth tidal pools surrounded by sandy beaches
